Signs and Portents... Of improvement

So I have been taking some time off over the past month in an attempt to change and create possibly a new art style, or polish it at the very least. If you are a watcher of my Deviant Art site, you will no doubt notice that I have not put up any brand new works as of late. I have been drawing for myself. Taking the time to learn fundamentals of figure drawing, and gesture drawing and the like. I have been very pleased so far with the results so far. I hope to see more change as time goes on. I am really concentrating on learning to draw women, as that is my most difficult subject. I always seemed to make them too masculine, and it took away from the sexyness that I wanted to achieve, and it angered me.

I have also been getting constructive criticism from other artists, but most importantly, folks that are not members of the art community. I don't know, I have this thing where I think that the people that are on the outside, and their criticisms are almost more important because in the end, it is these people that will decide to become a fan of your works or not. While it's true that not a lot of them have talent in the area you are trying to master, or know much about the genre we may work in, these people KNOW what they like, and see. These will be the people that very well may be your fans in the future. So because of this, I have been getting ripped up and down and sideways, and I have been doing something about it. I have stayed away from drawing superheroes and stuff, and have just been focusing on the drawing of the figure in all shapes and sizes... Literally. I will probably have these posted up soon on my Deviant Art site later for you all to see.

Now, I want to say something, but I don't want to draw any hate or nothing, or be accused of being a jerk, but all I have to say is... drawing fat people is fun. They are probably THE most accurate drawings I have ever done. I don't know if it's because it is such a huge difference and deviation from what I normally draw, but it's fun, and funny to look at. And shows me that I can really draw most anything if I concentrate and put my mind to it. Drawing from life is something that I have tended to stray away from because I thought that it would make my quality of art lower, but I was very wrong. I have learned to draw new things on a regular basis, and now when I go through various art sites, I look for TONS of new references to draw and sketch from to see what else I can pull off. Anyways, I think I'm done ranting for right now. But there is improvement and change coming, and I like it...

Be back later...

New Style & New Direction

Hey everyone. It has been a while hasn't it? At least for those that have been reading my blog if there are any of you. Either way it's been a minute. I am working hard right now in trying to improve my art, and possibly change my art style. There is so much that I have been lacking in the past, and I am on a mission to change it, and become a better artist because of it. I am not posting any new art for a while, until this change has been made, and I'm just gonna be doing art for myself for the most part. I want to get better, and I will be. Now once I get started, there will be no stopping, and there will be something new for you all to see and appreciate hopefully. So please bear with me, and be patient. There are going to be so many new changes in the coming months, so get ready for it.

White Ninja Guy hasn't gone anywhere, and he never will. I just didn't like the direction he was going, and I decided to change that. So there will be new adventures of that coming up really soon. I was going to do a graphic novel, but decided against it. But there is a lot of new writing going on right now, and I hope to have some stuff going onto paper really soon. I plan to make the year 2010 be a big year for White Ninja Guy, and I am on the rampage of getting this guy out there for you all to see as the face of me, myself and I, that is Ian Walker, that is, Studio W. Anyways, if there are any that are reading this, thank you for all the support, and your patience. It is greatly appreciated...

I'll be back...
